Belt Testing

  • Belt Testing – How to Rank Up
    • First, you must meet the time requirements. For white belt to senior brown, the time is two months per belt. Time requirements are the same for all three arts.
    • Second, you must meet the attendance requirements. Though these change as you get higher in the system, the first couple belts require 10 classes each. Attendance requirements are the same for all three arts.
    • Please click the link to download the testing requirement chart. Class and Time Required for Your Next Test
    • Lastly (and only for TKD), you must test for at least the first four stripes on your stripe card (a stripe card should be attached with your ID card). These are tested for in class. If you are ready for a stripe testing and no one has offered, you may ask an instructor for in-class testing.
    • Color belt testing usually falls on the last Saturday we are open in each month. Black belt testing is only every June and December.
    • TKD students will receive an email when you are almost ready for testing. The current testing application is always posted on our website (Testing Application).
    • Information for your current/next belt rank can be found under the ‘Member’ tab on our website.

    • After the break, testing resumes.

  • Earning a Black Belt
    • Black belts are not simply handed out at Dae Han Martial Arts. If all requirements are not fulfilled, a black belt will not be awarded. However, determination and dedication can get you there.
    • At a black belt testing, you will be tested on
      • All color belt forms
      • All techniques
      • All terminology
      • Multiple sparring
      • Board breaking
    • As you advance through your color belts, keep all information you learned fresh in your mind and muscle memory. Repetition will greatly help you as you prepare for your black belt testing.
